Why is church membership important?

1. Membership identifies you as a genuine believer and follower of Jesus.
"so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another." (Romans 12:5)

2. Membership provides a spiritual family to support and encourage you in your spiritual walk.

"And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." (Hebrews 10:24-25)

3. Membership provides a place for you to discover and use your spiritual gifts in ministry.

"There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:" (1 Corinthians 12:4-7)

What are the personal requirements for membership at SBC?

2. Baptism - baptism by immersion after salvation. Baptism for more information.

3. Attendance - six months of faithful attendance at SBC.

What are the next steps in the SBC membership process?
